About Us

Du Viet Group is a specialty restaurant offering halal Vietnamese cuisine. Commenced business on May 18, 2002, we are currently located in Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur and Uptown 37, Damansara Utama (Du Viet Restaurant & Cafe), Pavilion Kuala Lumpur (La Lot Vietnamese Cuisine) and Sunway Pyramid (O’ Viet Vietnamese Cuisine).

The name “Du Viet” means to “do Vietnamese” for a meal as in “What would you like to do for lunch? Let’s do Vietnamese”. The “Du” is a play on sound as well as to imply the French influence in Vietnam. “La Lot” is the Vietnamese term for the aromatic daun kadok and a fusion of French cuisine in our menu. “O’ Viet” is derived from Vietnam’s imperial name, “Au Viet”.

Our chefs hail from Hue, the ancient royal capital of Vietnam. Hue, located in Central Vietnam, is reputed to offer a refined and unique cuisine. This can be explained by its legacy of being the imperial capital where food served here is fit for emperors!

Rewind

Du Viet was born from the passion for this simple but yet uniquely refreshing and healthy Vietnamese cuisine.

As a student in Canada, Goh Chye Leng, Managing Director of Du Viet Group had his first Vietnamese culinary experience and it was love at first taste! After enjoying excellent Vietnamese food for a decade in Canada, he realised how badly he missed it upon his return to Malaysia. He tried every Vietnamese restaurants in town and checked out any new outlets hoping that the next one would be better than the last.

After much tasting and still have not found what he has been looking for, why not start one? He knew what he wanted and what is missing in the market. The dream of starting a Vietnamese restaurant lingered for 7 years and finally in mid-May 2002 it became a reality with its first outlet in Damansara Jaya, followed by Damansara Perdana (2004), Bangsar Village (2004) and Sunway Pyramid (2005).

In 2007, he consolidated the Damansara Jaya and Damansara Perdana outlets to a much larger premise in Uptown 37, Damansara Utama whilst the Bangsar branch was relocated to Pavilion KL and rebranded as La Lot Vietnamese Cuisine by Du Viet.

In August 2009, Du Viet opened its fourth and latest outlet in Suria KLCC.

So far so good

Since 2002, we have gained an enviable reputation as one of the leading Vietnamese restaurants in town. Many of our customers have complimented that our offerings are the closest to what they have had overseas, i.e. Australia and North America. We enjoy many repeat customers and benefit tremendously from word of mouth and publicity.

Du Viet Group has been featured on numerous newspapers such as The Star - Weekender and Metro, News Straits Times, The Sun, China Press, Oriental Daily, Nanyang’s Weekly Special, Guang Ming Daily, as well as magazines like The Expat, Klue, Jaya Jusco’s Pearl, Selangor Tourism Board – Escapade, Malaysia Food Guide – 100 Best Restaurants, Flavours – Good Food Guide to P.J, Women, E-Move, Citta Bella, Feminine, etc.

There are numerous reviews/ comments from F&B portals such as Food Street as well as blogs from foodies that are truly positive about Du Viet Group.

Du Viet has been featured on RTM 2, “Breakfast to You”, a feature on international breakfast.

In 2004, Goh was selected by Guinness Anchor Berhad to be one of the personalities to support their “Someone’s Going To Do It, Why Not You?” advertisement campaign. The selection was made in recognition of Du Viet’s success in the food and beverage industry.
